AllMusic Review by

Time-Life's Sounds of the Seventies: 1974 - Take Two picks up where Sounds of the Seventies: 1974 leaves off and collects 20 songs that made the year what it was, while drawing from a wide range of styles and genres. It provides both a fine introduction to the year's music and a highly entertaining exercise in nostalgia, and either way it is a blast. Like the first entry from 1974, this disc is an easy-to-swallow mix of songs by big artists like the Jackson 5 ("Dancing Machine"), Gordon Lightfoot ("Sundown"), Steve Miller ("The Joker"), and Jim Croce ("I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song") and one-hitters like Blue Magic ("Sideshow"), Rick Derringer ("Rock and Roll, Hootchie Koo"), and Carl Carlton ("Everlasting Love").
