AllMusic Review by

Consisting of over a dozen volumes, the Bellevue label's Soul series is riddled with poor live recordings and woefully inferior studio re-recordings, the latter of which are not specified in the track listings. These should be avoided, as there are many series and box sets -- such as Soul Hits of the '70s, Sweet Soul Music, and Can You Dig It? The '70s Soul Experience -- that are legitimate. On Soul: Supernatural Love, Young-Holt Unlimited's "Soulful Strut," Fontella Bass' "Rescue Me," Archie Bell & the Drells' "I Just Can't Stop Dancing," and the Jackson 5's "Big Boy" are among the selections present in undesirable -- and, in some cases, unlistenable -- form.
