Like the equally wretched Soul Classics, Columbia River's Soul Sensations collects cheesy re-recordings of classic hits by Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown, and Fats Domino. The included versions of "I Want to Walk You Home" and "Good Golly Miss Molly" are pretty faithful to the originals, but the versions of "Sweet Little Sixteen," "Johnny B. Goode," and "Roll Over Beethoven" sound like they're from a '70s concert -- a far cry from the versions that became legendary '50s singles, in other words. Since most people, even the most casual fans of '50s rock, would want the original hits, it's difficult to find anything to recommend about Soul Sensations.
