Consisting of over a dozen volumes, the Bellevue label's Soul series is riddled with poor live recordings and woefully inferior studio re-recordings, the latter of which are not specified in the track listings. These should be avoided, as there are many series and box sets -- such as Soul Hits of the '70s, Sweet Soul Music, and Can You Dig It? The '70s Soul Experience -- that are legitimate. On Soul: Save the Last Dance for Me, there are bootleg-quality live recordings of James Brown's "Gonna Have a Funky Good Time" and Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," as well as re-recordings of the Jackson 5's "The Tracks of My Tears" and the Supremes' "My World Is Empty Without You."
