AllMusic Review by

Another flawed but interesting collection of former Motown singers brought back to the studio under the watchful eye of Ian Levine and hi sMotorcity Records crew. The 36 tracks include one by Herman Griffin (Mary Wells' first husband), Billy Eckstine, Ivy Jo Hunter, Richard "Popcorn" Wylie, and a voice you've never heard before (and with good reason), Billy Reeves, Martha's brother. Top marks go to the late blues/soul singer Sammy Ward, whose gritty interpretations of "You Really Got a Hold on Me" and "Try It Baby" prove he was one of the genre's unheralded voices.
