AllMusic Review by

The material included on this budget LP has been bouncing around for years, turning up on many records. The great tenor Sonny Rollins is heard in a quintet with trombonist Jimmy Cleveland in 1957 performing his "Sonnymoon for Two," the ballad "Like Someone in Love" and strangely enough the "Theme from Tchaikovsky's Symphony Pathetique." In addition cornetist Thad Jones performs two of his originals ("Lust for Life" and "I Got It Thad") and a ballad medley with a variety of modern swing players, many from Count Basie's Orchestra. Nowhere on this set does it mention that Rollins is absent on half of the selections and that he never does play with Thad Jones (who is simply listed as "Guest Artist"). The music is better than the crummy packaging.
