With the second release on the Underground Resistance label, the Detroit collective began to carve out the style of hard techno that they would eventually define. The record includes four songs, each taking its own approach to the developing genre, with "Eye of the Storm" easily standing out as the highlight of this record. From its opening moment, long before any heavy percussion or bass enters, the song's euphoric sounds of synthesized strings resonate endlessly and continue to do so throughout. On the B-side of Sonic are two cuts with a darker tone than that found on the A-side: "Predator" and "Elimination."
