Real Gone's 2014 release Songs of Inspiration combines We Love to Sing About Jesus, a record released by George Jones and Tammy Wynette in 1972, along with the first-ever CD release of Tammy's 1969 album Inspiration. The 26-track CD is filled out with four singles -- three from Tammy, one from George -- the presence of which helps make this disc a fairly full portrait of the pair's gospel recordings for Epic in the late '60s and early '70s. Both records carry a slightly similar tone thanks to the production of Billy Sherrill, but Inspiration focuses largely on classic hymns ("You'll Never Walk Alone," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "How Great Thou Art"), while We Love to Sing About Jesus focuses on newly written, contemporary numbers, which gives it a slight edge on interest; the songs may not be as good as those on the 1969 LP, but they're more distinctive.
