Madacy's two-disc, 20-track collection of Songs from the Heart is essentially a two-fer of 1969's Rod Stewart Album and 1974's Smiler. The latter is the better of the two, boasting classic Rod Stewart cuts like "Handbags & Gladrags" and "Cindy's Lament," while Smiler, his fifth solo record, failed to excite, despite a nice rendering of Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country" and Elton John's "Let Me Be Your Car."
