AllMusic Review by

From her Greenwich Village days as a folkie through her tenure in the 1970s as a pop singer and into her explorations of various roots styles in the '80s and '90s, Maria Muldaur has always had a flair for spirited performance. Rhino's 16-song Muldaur compilation, SONGS FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART, exemplifies that tendency on a set of songs appropriate for children and adults alike. Popular sing-alongs like "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and "Singing in the Rain" are here, alongside perennial favorites like "Jeepers Creepers" and "On the Sunny Side." Muldaur's original take on the tunes keeps them fresh, while the familiarity of the songs makes for a wonderful, smile-inducing listen.
