AllMusic Review by

Songs for Kids, Vol. 1 features 11 peppy singalongs, with vocal duties split roughly between male and female singers. Things kick off with "A Mouse Lived in a Windmill," which is the story of a little mouse from Amsterdam who wears clogs and makes the titular structure his home. "Going to the Zoo" features a jaunty synth bassline; "I Can Sing a Rainbow" slows things down a bit, but makes singalong fun out of ROYGBIV. A weak cover of "It's a Small World" is really the only misstep on Songs for Kids, Vol. 1, as the album ends strong with the Caribbean-flavored "Jamaican Farewell" and a madcap version of "Monster Mash" that's sure to be a backyard smash.
