Producer Rod McKuen, in his personal liner notes, describes this collection as having been "assembled more out of love than any shot at a Dietrich history. They are songs and performances I particularly enjoy." They are also mostly unidentified, though a couple were released on McKuen's Stanyan Records album Marlene's Greatest Hits, "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)" was licensed from Sony Music, and "Die Welt War Jung (When The World Was Young)" comes from EMI. Dietrich sings several songs closely associated with her, such as "Lili Marlene" (in German) and "Blonde Woman" and "Ich Bin De Fesche Lola" (in German) from her film The Blue Angel. Sound quality varies as the tracks range from live recordings to studio tracks, many presumably from late in the singer/movie star's career, though some sound like they must be from her 1930 and '31 sessions in Berlin. It all makes for a miscellaneous collection, but it isn't an expensive one.
