Taken out of context from the opulent Out of Tune, the unusually rollicking "Some Kinda Angel" seems to grow even more in weight, long before those regal blasts of trumpet close matters. One of the best singles of the year. But it's the two non-LP tracks that matter, and once again, as on the Who Do You Love single, Mojave 3 comes up with two scrumptious tunes that could easily have been on their LP. In fact, "Go Lady Go" should have been placed there, since it's a little faster and more insistent than most of its brethren, giving drummer Ian McCutcheon his first chance to really bash his cymbals a bit since the last Slowdive tour in 1994. Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell once again combine for a terrifically supple harmony, and the Hammond blares benignly in the background. Real sharp! Whereas "All I Want" is back to the quiet post-Dylan essence the LP was more made up of, with another simple, effective melody for the two to croon. Nice, nice, nice.
