AllMusic Review by

German production and DJ duo Blank & Jones are behind the So80s line of compilations, which presents a rather omnivorous view of '80s club music that places big pop hits, cult favorites, and deep selections on the same plane. The CD edition of the first volume consists of a serviceable DJ mix, and then two discs of the tracks in unmixed form. The digital edition offers only the unmixed tracks. Among the highlights are extended mixes of Yaz's "Nobody's Diary," Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls," and Heaven 17's "Let Me Go," as well as Propaganda's "p:Machinery [Beta Mix]," Bryan Ferry's "Kiss and Tell [Dance Remix]," and the Men's "I Don't Depend on You" (a great plastic disco-funk one-off from the Human League).
