Terry Waldo is a skilled pianist who was among the first musicians in the revival years to perform ragtime (which has been mostly been thought of as a piano music) with an orchestra. Other than some piano choruses, the music on this LP is orchestral ragtime with each note taken from stock arrangements from the 1896-1920 era. Waldo is joined by two trumpets, one trombone, a string quartet, clarinet, flute/piccolo, tuba and drums on such forgotten but colorful numbers as "The Watermelon Trust," "That Mysterious Rag," "The Burning Oof Rome" (a descriptive march) and "Smiles and Chuckles." Worth searching for.
