AllMusic Review by

The 1950's saw a revival of western songwriting in a popular vein, mostly sparked by the popularity of the western on television, where it was the dominant genre during the years 1957-1963 (at one point there were over two dozen western series running each week on the three networks, in addition to syndicated series). This 12 song collection draws from some of the most popular of them (Johnny Western's "The Ballad of Paladin," Frankie Laine's "Rawhide," "The Rebel-Johnny Yuma," sung by Johnny Cash, "Happy Trails" sung by Roy Rogers) and a number of rarities, such as Gail Davis (tv's Annie Oakley) singing "I'm Female Thru and Thru" and Robert Horton, star of the mid-1960's series A Man Called Shenandoah (precursor to The Lazarus Man) singing "Shenandoah."
