Following the success of their original set, the Water Music label offers up 16 more headphone-ready downtempo and chillout tracks with Sky Lounge 2: More Chilled Beats at 30,000 Feet. Lengthy enough to last a short-hop 90-minute flight or for the Bombay Sapphires to kick in on a transatlantic trip, this collection will ease your cabin pressure with easy slow jams like Nick White's "Inside" and Pretz's "Zazie Skips the Pond." A blend of vocal-based tracks, instrumentals, and occasional remixes of popular tracks by high-profile artists like Moby, Sky Lounge 2 generally hits the mark for low-key, friendly-skies music. There are some questionably offbeat choices like Roebeck's musical treatment of JFK's famous "Back of the Tiger" inaugural speech which is inspirational, for sure, but doesn't exactly scream Sky Lounge. Still, most of the music here is tranquil and nondescript enough to avoid any emotional turbulence. So put your tray up, inflate your neck pillow, and tune out your overly chatty seatmate with these chilled beats.
