Moon Ska has a packed stable of fine breeds. Check out their 2-CD compilation of 45 new ska bands -Skarmageddon, Vol. 3. I think we are in the midst of a ska revolution, and that's a good thing. My favorite cuts in this roundup are by King 7 & The Soulsonics (MC 900 Ft. Jesus goes ska?), the vintage sounding Buford O'Sullivan, the jazz like instrumental sounds of The Articles with a Detroit radio appearance recording of "Starsky," Spider Nick & The Maddogs, Lord Streev & The Echos, The Space Heaters, great female harmonies in Low Pressure, Checkmate, and Monkey . Those were from disc one, "Old-Skool/2Tone." Disc two is "Post- 2Tone, Ska-Punk & Beyond." On it, I favored Angry Planet. This disc is much more adventurous in combining ska rhythms and instrumentation with modern rock sounds.
