AllMusic Review by

Sixties Power, Vols.1 & 2 is a two-disc set (both volumes also sold separately) that attempts to cash in on the Austin Powers phenomenon (shagadelic!) by rounding up 20 completely random songs (with the exception of the Strawberry Alarm Clock's "Incense and Peppermints," which was actually on the soundtrack of the first Powers film) from the '60s and hoping no one would notice that about half of the tracks are re-recordings of the originals. Not very good re-recordings by audibly older artists that seldom rise above the level of decent karaoke, that is. Despite the inclusion of some pretty nice originals (like the transcendent "Happy Together" by the Turtles), this rather awful collection makes a hash out of a good idea. As with all collections that contain re-recordings, it should be avoided and scorned accordingly.
