AllMusic Review by

Siesta II Sunset at Cafe Mambo is a typically ambitious mix of laid-back house and alternative dance from the '80s and '90s, selected by Pete Gooding and Eddie Gordon. The first disc gathers tracks from downbeat producers like LTJ Bukem and Tosca alongside Nitin Sawhney and Mahler for the mix, though you'd need to be considerably loved-up to stand over-emotive tracks like "Indescribable Feeling" by Paco Fernandez or "New Born" by Daybreak. The second disc is more influences, with sunny-day jazz and funk coming from quiet storm heroes like Freddie Hubbard, Pieces of a Dream, Charles Earland, Azymuth, and Earth Wind & Fire. Of the hundreds of similar compilations available, this one definitely rates above the half-way point, but that still leaves a couple dozen volumes in the Café del Mar Ibiza series to get first.
