With the band down to a six-piece, Shyfolk is a bit more restrained than its predecessor, Superior Cackling Hen. There's less emphasis on high-energy funk numbers and more emphasis on the band's pop side. That's not to say it's a bad album by any means. There's just a whole lot less booty-shaking potential this time out, that's all. Watch for a guest appearance from Ani DiFranco on this one.
