While bands may come and go, we're rarely afforded the opportunity to look behind the curtain at those final moments. Documenting the day of, and the day after, the final performance of LCD Soundsystem, Shut Up and Play the Hits intercuts footage from the band's epic farewell at Madison Square Garden with clips of frontman James Murphy, who we get to see both prepare for the show and subsequently wake up in a world where his band is now defunct. Although the film features plenty of songs from the show, fans looking for a more complete concert-going experience will want to look into The Long Goodbye: Live at Madison Square Garden, which captures all three hours of the dance-punk outfit's final performance. And even though it doesn't have the entire live set, the way Shut Up and Play the Hits shows the relatively subdued moments that lead up to and follow something as grandiose as a playing a sold-out show to 20,000 fans makes it an interesting character piece that LCD Soundsystem fans will definitely want to check out.
