She Rock collects 16 pop and rock hits by women artists from the '60s through the '90s. She Rock is a bit of a misnomer, actually, as the album includes country (Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man"), R&B (the Pointer Sisters' "Slow Hand," Jody Watley's "Looking for a New Love") and jazz (Peggy Lee's "Fever") along with straight-up rock and pop. The track selection from these genres is also pretty diverse, spanning Lesley Gore's "It's My Party" to Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman." Shiny pop like Wilson Phillips' "Hold On" and Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is A Place On Earth," new wave hits like Toni Basil's "Mickey" and "Heart Of Glass" by Blondie, and songs by the Mamas & the Papas, Sheena Easton, and the Motels round out this enjoyable and suprisingly eclectic compilation.
