Colorado-based singer Jeanie McDonald-Carlson makes her debut with this self-published release. In popular demand by her church congregation and other organizations, she was encouraged to pursue a recording effort by friends and her supportive husband. It's easy to see why from start to finish with this album. She has a great voice and is equally at home with classical or contemporary pieces. She is also really handy with a guitar. She kept the album simple; it's just her singing and the equally capable Angie Branch on piano or herself on guitar. The album was professionally produced and the sound quality reflects it. However, the contemporary pieces would have benefited from a larger set of accompanying musicians, like a small pop/rock band. Yet when viewed as a debut album designed to strictly showcase her vocal talents, McDonald-Carlson did well. The 12 tracks are split into three sections by type: classical, popular, and Christmas.
