AllMusic Review by

Larry Luchowski is a fine post-bop pianist and composer based in Chicago. The short-lived Lake Shore label documented some of the best little-known jazz performers in the Chicago area in the 1990s, including Luchowski in his recorded debut. Teamed with the talented tenor saxophonist Edward Petersen, bassist Larry Gray, and drummer Jeff Stitely, he performs six of his complex and tricky originals, plus "Young and Foolish" and "It Could Happen to You." Although none of Luchowski's originals (which include "Breathe a Sigh," "Chit Chat," and "Quintessential") caught on, several deserve additional exposure. This somewhat obscure CD has many rewarding moments.
