Sesion Acustica features, as you might expect, acoustic versions of Latin pop and rock en español hits from recent years. Things get off to a great start with Sin Bandera's "Sirena." Here, the studio gloss and synthetic production of the original is removed, and the duo makes the most of a simple acoustic guitar accompaniment. Later, Ely Guerra's Brazilian-tinged lyrics color the gorgeous "Peligro" (which also includes a great, rumbling bassline), and Morbo turns in a downtempo version of his hit "Enséñame" that colors its acoustic lead with programming and squiggles of electronica. Aleks Syntek's "Mas Fuerte de lo Que Pensaba" -- while more conventional than some of his peers' experiments -- is nevertheless full of emotion and a resounding success. The set is essential for any fan of the artists included, as many of the versions appearing here are exclusive to Sesion Acustica.
