Even by the standards of quickie collections, Serie 2000 is a rather clumsy, transparent waste. It's ostensibly intended as a companion to 20 Grandes Exitos, the earlier two-disc Cadillacs collection, since it compiles material from the studio albums made since that album's release. 20 Grandes Exitos, however, covered a ten-year period and included tracks from several albums never released in the U.S. Serie 2000 pulls all of its selections from barely two albums, Fabulosos Calavera and La Marcha de Golazo Solitario, both of which are easily available. What's more, the sequencing is seemingly random and the selection haphazard, omitting several key album tracks in favor of pleasant filler. Why not include "Surfer Calavera" (from Calavera) or "Roble" (from Golazo), instead of some of the odder choices like "Vos Sabes," hardly a standout on Golazo? It's certainly not from lack of space, since the disc barely clocks in at 48 minutes, leaving plenty of room for more selections. It's an adequate introduction to the Cadillacs' most recent work, since some good choices were made, but fans are advised to simply start with Fabulosos Calavera instead, and hear the best songs in context along with other, equally great songs. Serie 2000 is of little value to anyone except completists.
