AllMusic Review by

In terms of audience appeal, a one-hour continuous DJ mix comprised entirely of minimal techno is going to be somewhat self-limiting. But those who generally find this genre to be kind of a snore owe it to themselves to give a listen to this, the sixth installment in the Trapez label's Selection series. DJ Triple R (aka label co-owner Richard Riley Reinhold) has put together a thoroughly enjoyable program of Cologne-style techno that bubbles along in a coolly impersonal but really quite friendly way for just over an hour. The tempo never varies, naturally, and the sonic texture is consistently fairly spare and open, but there's enough stylistic variation between the tracks to keep your interest -- and even if your mind wanders, the music makes a great soundtrack for whatever it is you're thinking about. Highlight tracks include the cheerful "Earthworm" by SLG, the subtly ska-inflected "Endless Ride" by Salvatore Freda & Massimo Stefanelli, and the rather dubwise "Dandelion" by Red Robin & Jakob Hilden. Also noteworthy are Mauler's bouncy "Hybird," and a slightly darker, glitchier number by Alex Under titled "Trapezones Erectos (Mihalis Safras Rmx)" (and check out the humorous vocal samples spliced in throughout that track's original mix, which is also included here). Where many of his colleagues tend to be arch and precious, Reinhold's sound is refreshingly open and accessible, and this mix is a delight. Highly recommended.
