Mike Grant's Moods & Grooves label seems to be the place to be. With releases that include the work of Boo Williams, John Tejada, and Brian Harden, it's no wonder Theo Parrish jumped onboard. With his first release on the label, Parrish brings us back to where it all began. With a sound reminiscent of his earlier Sound Signature releases, he delivers Segments From the Fifth Wheel. On the EP's first track, "Chunky," Parrish molds together a variety of drums and claps into a grossly melodic bassline, putting the icing on the cake with his dreamy, slightly off-kiltered synths. Picture what would happen if you put a jazz quartet, drum machine, and a keyboard in a blender, you would have "Secondary Darkness," the EP's B-side. Moods & Grooves got what they deserved when they commissioned Theo Parrish to contribute to their catalog, and you will too if you add this 12" to your collection.
