AllMusic Review by

Existing on the magnetic/repetitive end of the Elektrolux spectrum, Index Id's Schlafphase played with peaceful electronic policies by incorporating controlled moments of house music's propulsive populism. Lo-tech keyboards worked with hi-tech beat machines ("Kontinental"), while noticeably over-produced hi-hats hid underneath the album's rare breakbeat sampling ("Zwischenstop," "Federflug"). Schlafphase was more than an average downtempo dance album, it was crisp like optimistic early morning air, suggestive of good times past, of a weekend long remembered rather than the unremarkable present, and only sometimes ("Nachtexpress," "Raumzentriert") just as incapable of any real memorability.
