AllMusic Review by

Leave it to Starbucks, a company headquartered in the drizzly Pacific Northwest, to put together a compilation of “rainy day” tunes for its coffee-drinking patrons. Save It for a Rainy Day is aimed squarely at the average Starbucks customer, with a track list that alternates between NPR-approved folksingers, adult contemporary balladeers, and several classical artists. It’s a mix that could double as an early-morning soundtrack, with its emphasis on acoustic instruments and casual tempos, but it mainly evokes the damp weather that its title suggests. Ryan Adams, Eva Cassidy, and Jack Johnson are all predictably pleasant inclusions, and there are some pleasant curve balls thrown into the mix as well, including the xx, Aldo Ciccolini, and the Jayhawks.
