AllMusic Review by

This CD is an excellent showcase for violinist Emery Davis. On his second Accurate disc, Davis sometimes sounds a little like Billy Bang and the other moderately avant-garde violinists, although he is strong improvising over chord structures, too. Joined by Brad Hatfield on piano and organ, bassist Bob Nieske, and drummer George Schuller, Davis stretches out on seven of his originals plus Bill Evans' "Very Early" and a slightly dramatic "I'll Be Home for Christmas." The music is primarily post-bop, hinting at the avant-garde but also filled with the feeling of gospel and the blues. It is surprising that Emery Davis has not since grown to become a poll-winner on violin, for he plays very well throughout this stimulating set.
