Satellite Soul's eponymous debut album is a jangly collection of straightahead pop-rock in the vein of Jars of Clay. Like Jars of Clay, Satellite Soul has interpreted R.E.M.'s folky side as laid-back but anthemic pop and this occasionally results in catchy tunes. Their songwriting is a little unfocused, which isn't too surprisng for a debut record. To their credit, Satellite Soul comes up with enough strong songs to make the album a promising debut.
