Like African Head Charge's previous albums, Sankofa finds the group blending reggae and dub rhythms with skittering, uptempo West African music. However, the band lacks focus this time around, coming up with a set of songs that lack strong melodies. Furthermore, the album is padded with bland dub versions that halt the momentum of the record. Ulitimately, the unevenness of the record means that it is only of interest to dedicated followers.
