A few years before he began playing with bassist Mark Egan and drummer Danny Gottlieb in Elements, Gil Goldstein recorded this acoustic quartet album. Utilizing both Egan and Steve Swallow on basses, Goldstein performs six of his moody originals. Although well played, the atmospheric music on this LP-length CD does not contain any future standards or memorable melodies. The group sound is attractive and the musicianship is impeccable but the performances failed to make much of an impression initially, and over two decades later it is still fairly forgettable despite the talents involved.
