This album is overdue (by many years) to be reissued on CD. Clare Fischer has long been a lover of Afro-Cuban jazz in addition to Brazilian jazz, and he has also been a distinctive soloist on electric piano and organ. On this set from 1978, he heads a fine septet that includes Poncho Sanchez (at the beginning of his career) on percussion along with Alex Acuña. Rick Zunigar contributes several hot guitar solos and the diverse musicians blend together quite well. Fischer's solos, which recall Chick Corea in spots (purposely on "Descarga -- Yema Ya"), are consistently colorful and stirring and he contributed all but one selection including his famous "Morning." Well worth searching for.
