One of many similar Latin-themed collections released in late 2001 featuring Gallaxia, Salsa Caliente: Hot Latin Salsa doesn't depart too far from the other volumes. The emphasis here is late-night, party-oriented salsa music -- hot, steamy, sexy, sweaty music with a festive vibe that brings to mind long, sleepless nights on warm, breezy, never-ending beaches. In fact, the idea of this music is better than the actual songs themselves. It's fairly generic salsa, to be honest. But, then again, everything in this series of Latin-themed albums has been rather generic so that shouldn't come as much surprise. Ultimately, this is a collection that uses its motifs to compensate for its lackluster music. You can find much better salsa collections than this.
