With acoustic guitars abuzz with open chords, lyrics about drifters and discontent as a sort of mythic Southern fate, and a singer with a whiskey-softened drawl, Mohead evokes the folky side of the Allman Brothers. Actually, comparing Mohead to the Allmans at all is probably too much of a compliment, since most of Rural Electric is ho-hum singer/songwriter fare -- as bland as a lettuce sandwich and meant for those who liked "Melissa" but couldn't handle anything as rockin' as "Hot 'Lanta."
