AllMusic Review by

Originally issued on vinyl in the 1970s, this set is even better on CD, featuring a treasure trove of rare and previously unissued sides from the vast EMI vaults. Big-ticket highlights include the Papa Lightfoot sides ("Jump the Boogie" is a major revelation), Boogie Bill Webb's chaotic "Boogie," and J.D. Edwards' "Playboy Blues" and "Hobo," both featuring massively distorted lead guitar work from Hop Wilson. Tracks from Lowell Fulson, Roosevelt Sykes, Manny Nichols, Country Jim Bledsoe, and Little Son Jackson complete this wonderful set.
