AllMusic Review by

The first volume of Time Life's massive nine-disc ode to the classic love songs of the '70s features 18 of the glitter ball decade's most amorous soft rock/easy listening/AM pop ballads. Boasting a Polaroid-inspired cover image of a young couple holding hands on a sunset-lit beach, You Needed Me wants to be loved, and with standout cuts like Kenny Rogers' “She Believes in Me,” Crystal Gayle's “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," and Gilbert O'Sullivan's “Alone Again (Naturally),” the latter of which is actually kind of sad, it’s hard not to want to reciprocate.
