AllMusic Review by

March 1980, when the concert recorded for the West German Rockpalast TV show presented on this CD was performed, was relatively late in the day for the Ronnie Lane Band. Lane had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was having good and bad days, according to the liner notes by Sid Griffin, who interviewed some of the participants. Nevertheless, he had a good group with him, including former Wings guitarist Henry McCullough and longtime Rolling Stones pianist Ian Stewart, and they were up for the show. The set list included old Faces favorites, selections from Lane's solo career, and a heavy complement of old-time rock & roll covers by the likes of Chuck Berry and Hank Ballard. With Charlie Hart playing accordion and fiddle, and two saxophonists in the band, the arrangements are in a honky tonk, pub rock style, and Lane, whatever his physical difficulties, is in a good mood and in good voice. He didn't have much longer to go as a performer, but he performed well on this occasion. The accompanying CD-ROM includes a couple of bonus tracks, the previously unreleased "Chicken" and a take of another Faces evergreen, "Ooh-La-La."
