AllMusic Review by

Rock Steady Rave is an enjoyable compilation of 1960s rocksteady singles, focusing mostly on Byron Lee & the Dragonaires and Delroy Wilson. The 15 song release opens with four selections from Wilson, including the classic rocksteady tune, "I'm in a Dancing Mood," as well as his cover of the Isley Brothers' "This Old Heart of Mine." The collection then moves into one cut each from a young Bob Marley & the Wailers (an early, rough-sounding cut of "Put It On"), Hopeton Lewis, the Jamaicans, and two from the Ethiopians (including "Long Time Now"). The final six selections are a good dose of Byron Lee & the Dragonaires, including staples "Rock Steady" and "007 Shanty Town."
