Madacy's Rock On 1990 is a brief survey of the year's hits. A wide mix of styles and artists, the collection ultimately is too short and random to be of much use to anyone as a definitive record of the year. There are many good songs included, however: Warrant's dumb-as-mud metal anthem "Cherry Pie," Candyman's "Knockin' Boots," Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract" and Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet." While most fans of '90s pop would be better off looking for a more comprehensive collection, someone looking for a quick survey of the pop landscape might be satisfied.
