Anyone nostalgic for the period of music covered throughout Madacy's Rock N Roll Reunion series won't be alone. As the label thankfully indicates at the top of each edition, the songs included are not the original versions; instead, they are newly recorded takes by the original artists. Unsurprisingly, there is never an instance in which a new version tops the original, so the whole series should be avoided -- unless, of course, you are interested in new versions (and admittedly decent ones in some cases) of old songs. The 1969 edition features remakes of the Archies' "Sugar Sugar," the Foundations' "Build Me Up Buttercup," Percy Sledge's "My Special Powers," Sam & Dave's "Soul Sister, Brown Sugar," and Billy Joe Royal's "Cherry Hill Park."
