Anyone nostalgic for the period of music covered throughout Madacy's Rock N Roll Reunion series won't be alone. As the label thankfully indicates at the top of each edition, the songs included are not the original versions; instead, they are newly recorded takes by the original artists. Unsurprisingly, there is never an instance in which a new version tops the original, so the whole series should be avoided -- unless, of course, you are interested in new versions (and admittedly decent ones in some cases) of old songs. The 1966 edition features remakes of the Association's "Cherish," Tommy Roe's "Hooray for Hazel," Herman's Hermits' "A Must to Avoid," Sam & Dave's "Hold on I'm Coming," and Paul Revere & the Raiders' "Good Thing."
