Rock 'N' Roll Era: Rockin' Holidays Review

by Jason Birchmeier

Rock 'N' Roll Era: Rockin' Holidays features 12 holiday favorites of mostly well-known performances by some of early rock & roll's biggest performers. The album starts out with probably the most well-known rock & roll holiday song, Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas." Other noteworthy performances include Jerry Butler's "O Holy Night" and Roy Orbison's "Pretty Paper." Overall, the performances are all impressive, but the album itself seems to jump around a bit too liberally, rounding up soul artists like Butler and Gladys Knight & the Pips alongside rock artists like Lloyd Price and Orbison.
