Another grab-bag compilation from Sony's budget-line Sony Special Products subsidiary, Rock Hits of the 80's comes in ugly packaging and the disc itself has a short running time, but it does feature a dozen big singles. Almost all of the tracks -- Living Colour's "Cult of Personality," Warrant's "Down Boys," and Alice Cooper's "Poison" are exceptions -- come from the earlier half of the decade, and there's a definite emphasis on heaviness. No Richard Marx here, folks. (That said, there are Hooters.) These songs can be had on better sets, but the disc could be worth it for those who are on a tight budget and must have a few of the songs.
