The fourth album from Troy, Ohio metal outfit Miss May I, Rise of the Lion finds the band returning with an album of melodic metalcore that lives up to the group's solid legacy. Coming in at a tight 35 minutes, the bandmembers focus all of their attention on intensity, attacking the listener with track after track of lightning-fast riffs and throat-shredding vocals. Although Miss May I won't be accused of breaking any new ground with this one, Rise of the Lion is an incredibly solid album of driving and emotional metalcore that feels tailor-made for the band's die-hard fan base.
