Texan Christian rapper Trip Lee took cues from the entire spectrum of commercial hip-hop on fifth album Rise. Rise comes after a two-year hiatus following Lee's 2012 album The Good Life, and a long struggle with some health issues. Over the course of the album's 14 exquisitely produced tracks, Lee manages to wrap overt ministry and devotional rhymes in radio-ready beats and synth-heavy trap backdrops. Broken samples and Lee's deep drawling voice make tunes like "Shweet" stand out as single-worthy fodder in an album that's strong throughout.
