Rhyme Time: Kids Family Rhymes features singalong versions of well-known nursery rhymes, as performed by the Hit Crew and a children's vocal group. Unlike many contemporary children's albums, Kids Family Rhymes makes no attempt to be hip or cool, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, though, the album errs too much in the other direction at times, and the overly simple instrumentation and sing-songy vocals from the children become grating to all but the youngest of ears. However, there are a few moments the entire family can enjoy, such as the more sedate versions of "The More We Get Together," "Over the River and Through the Woods," and "Home on the Range." With versions of songs like "In the Good Old Summertime," "Lavender's Blue," and "Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis," the album goes a little bit deeper into children's songs and American popular song than some collections do, but it's still an adequate children's album at best.
